(Carlisle, Pa.) – Dickinson had some outstanding team and individual performances throughout the spring season while also maintaining a strong balance between academics and athletics. The Red Devils placed 52 student-athletes on the 2017 Centennial Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll.
In addition, the Centennial Conference Scholar-Athletes of the Year were announced with senior Joana Nunes (Carcavelos, Portugal/St. Julian’s School) receiving the honor for the second straight year in women’s tennis while junior Tucker Carney (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven) was the Scholar Athlete of the Year for men’s lacrosse. The honor goes to the member of the All-Conference Team with the highest cumulative grade point average in their respective sport.
Nunes and Carney were named Spring Academic All-Centennial Conference, including student-athletes named to the honor roll that also earned All-Conference recognition. The Red Devils had 14 student-athletes represented on the Academic All-Centennial roster. Senior Madison Parks (Denton, Md./North Caroline) earned All-Conference in women’s tennis while Carney was joined by classmate Andrew Jones (Odenton, Md./Arundel), and sophomores Jack Doran (Ardmore, Pa./Haverford School) and Brodie Phillips (Charlottesville, Va./St. Anne’s Belfield).
Women’s outdoor track & field was represented by seniors Jamie George (Hightstown, N.J./The Peddie School) and Amanda Jimcosky (Benton, Pa./Northwest Area), and sophomore Olivia Watson (Weston, Conn./Weston).
The high-scoring sophomore combination of Anne Dunster (Cos Cob, Conn./Greenwich) and Eleanor Kaestner (Glyndon, Md./Franklin) were named for women’s lacrosse, joining softball standout, senior Nicole Torlincasi (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park), junior Billy Dougherty (Mt. Lebanon, Pa./Mt. Lebanon), men’s track & field, and men’s tennis junior Samuel Loring (New York, N.Y./Blair Academy, N.J.).
To be nominated for the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.40 or better, and must be a sophomore or higher in class standing.
Striving to achieve a strong balance between academics and athletics, Dickinson student-athletes have excelled in both areas on an extremely high level. In addition, they are actively involved in numerous clubs and activities on campus, engaged in the community through various programs and service opportunities.
