(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson baseball team dropped a tough 3-0 decision to visiting Elizabethtown College at MacPhail Field on Tuesday afternoon.
The Blue Jays struck early, scoring in the top of the first as Kyle Fackler tripled to lead-off the game. He came in to score on a ground out from Richy Masciarelli.
Ryan Schamp reached on an error to start the seventh inning. He came in to score on a double from Masciarelli to make the score 2-0. Cobly Smith singled to drive in Masciarelli for the final run.
First-year Ben Woodard (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) suffered the loss, despite a great effort on the hill. He scattered four hits, allowing just one earned run and recording eight strikeouts. Ryan Vasel (River Vale, N.J./Pascack Valley) came on to book three strikeouts in the final three innings.
Senior Phil Werner (Potomac, Md./St. Andrew's) had a great day at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a pair of stand-up doubles. Robbie Thompson (Camp Hill, Pa./Camp Hill) and Jonathan Chudacoff (Highland Park, Ill./Berkshire School) both went 2-for-4 on the day.
Anthony Lippy went four innings to earn the win as Elizabethtown improved to 8-8 on the season.
The Red Devils slip to 12-6 overall. They are home again on Wednesday, hosting Penn State Schuylkill at 3:30 pm.
