(Baltimore, Md.) – The Dickinson baseball team suffered a 6-0 setback at Johns Hopkins University on Wednesday afternoon.
The Blue Jays put runners on second and third in the first inning but pitcher Garrett Kurtz (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) worked out of the jam with his second strikeout of the game.
Hopkins led-off the third with back-to-back base-hits, scoring a pair of runs to take a 2-0 lead. They tacked on four in the fourth behind a two-RBI double from Mike Smith.
Jake Enterlin went eight innings for the Blue Jays, holding the Devils to just four hits, raising his reacord to 4-0 on the year.
Senior Ryan Dolan (Plymouth Meeting, Pa./Germantown Academy) had two hits on the day, reaching on singles in his first two at bats. Robbie Thompson (Camp Hill, Pa./Camp Hill) followed up with a base-hit in the first inning and first-year Max Brown (Annapolis, Md./McDonogh) doubled in the fifth.
Kurtz recorded four strikeouts in 3.1 innings and Matt Cowell (Devon, Pa./Conestoga) added three K's in 2.2 innings.
The Blue Jays improve to 13-9 overall and 1-2 in the Centennial Conference. The Red Devils slip to 15-8 and 2-1 in the CC. Hopkins will travel to Carlisle on Friday to face the Red Devils on MacPhail Field at 3:30 pm.
