(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson baseball team went back and forth with visiting McDaniel College at MacPhail Field on Tuesday afternoon but the Green Terror would come out on top, claiming a 4-3 decision.
Cameron Bahr doubled in the third inning to put McDaniel on the board as starting pitcher Marty Windisch scored after being hit by a pitch. Windish tallied an RBI in the fourth to put the Terror up, 2-0.
Senior Matt Primavera (Erdenheim, Pa./Chestnut Hill Academy) cut the lead in half with a solo homerun in the bottom of the fourth. Classmate Brian McCloud (Medfield, Mass./Medfield) singled and scored on an RBI rip from sophomore Robbie Thompson (Camp Hill, Pa./Camp Hill) in the fifth to tie the game.
Sean Sivo led-off the seventh with a single and put McDaniel back in front as Bahr reached on a fielder's choice with his second RBI of the day. Bahr came around to tally an unearned run, off the bat of Nick Valori for a 4-2 advantage.
Thompson gave the Red Devils life with a two-out double in the ninth. He came in to score on an RBI from senior Phil Werner (Potomac, Md./St. Andrew's) as he tallied his third hit of the day.
Zach Kronick was able to close out the game, however, earning a save as McDaniel improves to 24-7 overall and 5-6 in the Centennial Conference. Windisch went seven innings to earn the win.
Werner led the Devils at the plate, going 3-for-5 with an RBI. First-year Alex Jacobson (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) went 3-for-3 with a sacrifice bunt while Thompson and Primavera both finished 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored.
First-year Ian Brink (Williamstown, Mass./Mount Greylock) came on in relief to record seven strikeouts in 6-2 innings.
The Red Devils slip to 17-14 overall 4-7 in the conference. They travel to McDaniel on Thursday afternoon to complete the series in a 3:30 pm start and return home to face Franklin & Marshall on Saturday in a 12:30 double-header.
