Devils Hand Mechanics First Loss, Advance to Hampton Inn Final

(Grantham, PA.) - Junior Matt Dolan (Chalfont, Pa./St. Joe's Regional) scored a game-high 19 points to lead the Dickinson College men's basketball team to a 55-50 win over Williamson Trade School.

 

The win was the first of the season for the Red Devils and the first loss for the 9-1 Mechanics. WTS won back-to-back U.S. Collegiate Athletic Association Division II National Titles in 2008 and 2009.

 

The game was close throughout most of the first half before the Devils pulled in front by nine before taking a 28-22 lead into halftime.

 

The Mechanics tied the game early in the second half but the Devils never trailed. They stretched the margin to nine again in the second.

 

Dolan finished with a double-double, adding 13 rebounds to his 19 points. He went 5-for-6 from the line and handed out three assists.

 

Junior Trevor Kenny (Richboro, Pa./Council Rock South) hit 4-of-5 shots from the floor, scoring 10 points. First-year Obi Ollawa (Los Angeles, Calif./View Park Prep) hit 4-of-5 shots as well for eight points.

 

The Red Devils improve to 1-6 overall. They advance to the final of the Hampton Inn Tournament at Messiah College. Dickinson will face Valley Forge Christian at 3:00 pm. Valley Forge advanced with a 78-74 win over host Messiah.
