(Collegeville, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's basketball team made a strong run to start the second half and held off a late rally from Ursinus College to come out on top of an 87-82 Centennial Conference thriller on Saturday.

Junior Bryce Allen (Albany, N.Y./The Hill School) had a great start, going 4-for-4 from the field to lead the Red Devils with 10 points in the first half, hitting a pair of three-pointers. First-year Jack Tierney (Darien, Conn./Darien) went 5-for6 from the line to score seven as Dickinson led, 45-43, at the break.

The Bears jumped out to a 5-1 start, but the Red Devils quickly answered, and the first half was a back-and-forth with neither team able to gain any separation.

Elijah Wright (Orange, N.J./Pennington School) scored consecutive buckets to give Dickinson a six-point lead and Allen knocked down a three for a seven-point advantage, but the Bears kept closing the gap.

Tierney knocked down a three-pointer and came away with a steal on the other end to spark the Devils strong start in the second half. Classmate Adam Drummond (Cork, Ireland/Taft School, Conn.) scored twice and then buried a three-pointer, putting Dickinson up, 66-53, with 13:26 remaining.

The Red Devils flirted with a 10-point lead down the stretch before a late run by the Bears tied the game, 84-84, with just over a minute remaining.

Strong free throw shooting would secure the win as Wright hit four straight free throws and Allen closed out the game with a pair for the final of 87-82.

Drummond scored 13 points in the second half for a team-high 19, adding five rebounds, two assists and two steals. Allen tallied 15 points and five rebounds while Tierney finished 7-for-8 from the line for 14 points on the afternoon.

Wright was the fourth Red Devil in double-figures, going 5-for-6 from the line for 13 points to go with eight rebounds, six assists and two steals. Mike Jurzynski (Pearl River, N.Y./The Master's School) hit 4-of-6 shots for eight points and senior Mike Hinckley (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Episcopal Academy) had seven. First-year Ryan Robinson (Vienna, Va./George Marshall) dished out four assists.

The Red Devils improve to 2-5 on the season and 2-1 in the conference. They return home to face McDaniel College on Wednesday night at 7:30 pm.
