Red Devils Rally Past Chargers 53-44

(Lancaster, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's basketball team had a strong second half to overtake Lancaster Bible College, 53-44, on Thursday night.

A slow start allowed the Chargers to take a double-digit lead into the break, 22-12. The Red Devils would rally, outscoring the hosts, 41-22, in the second half.

Senior Elijah Wright (Orange, N.J./The Pennington School) scored six of the Red Devils' 12 points in the first half, adding five rebounds.

Wright led an early rally to start the second half, cutting the deficit to 22-18, in the opening two minutes. Adam Drummond (Cork, Ireland/Taft School, Conn.) hit a short jumper to pull Dickinson within a field-goal, forcing a timeout from LBC.

Drummond followed up with a triple from the wing, putting the Red Devils in front at the 16-minute mark. Ryan Robinson (Vienna, Va./George Marshall) came on and immediately converted a three-point play to give the Devils a 26-22 lead.

The Chargers pulled back in front, but Wright countered with a three-pointer to put Dickinson up, 33-31, with eight minutes to play. He added another three-pointer to give the Devils a 39-31 advantage, with 6:12 on the clock.

Wright answered a three-point play with a triple from the wing to make the score, 42-34, with five minutes remaining. The Red Devils hit back-to-back three-pointers, coming out of a timeout before the Chargers pulled within seven.

LBC cut the lead to 50-44 in the final minute but the Red Devils would close it out at the line for the final of 53-44.

Wright finished with a game-high 17 points, adding nine rebounds, two steals and one assist. Drummond tallied 11 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals. Bryce Allen (Albany, N.Y./The Hill School) was just shy of double-figures with nine points, three assists and two steals.

The Red Devils improve to 4-6 on the season. They return home to host Immaculata University on Saturday afternoon at 3:00 pm.
