Red Devils Come Up Short at #15 Swarthmore

(Swarthmore, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's basketball team made a late run at #15-ranked Swarthmore College, but the Garnet held on for a 67-53 decision on Thursday night.

A defensive battle early on led to an 11-11 tie at the 12-minute mark of the first half. The Red Devils used three-pointers from Ryan Devine (New Egypt, N.J./New Egypt) and Bryce Allen (Albany, N.Y./The Hill School) to keep pace with the Garnet as the score moved to 18-18.

Swarthmore hit a pair of three-pointers as they made a run at the end of half to lead 34-26. They built the lead to 18 at the midpoint of the second half.

They were able to hold the advantage despite a late run by the Devils. Allen led the Red Devils with eight points and two steals while Adam Drummond (Cork, Ireland/Taft School, Conn.) and Will Colleran (Wayne, Pa./Valley Forge Military Academy) each tallied seven points and five rebounds.

Elijah Wright (Orange, N.J./The Pennington School) added seven points and Mike Hinckley (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Episcopal Academy) had four points and four assists and a pair of rebounds. Ryan Robinson (Vienna, Va./George Marshall) chipped in with six points, three rebounds and a pair of assists.

The Red Devils slip to 6-8 overall and 4-3 in the Centennial Conference. The Red Devils return home to face Washington College at 4:00 pm.
