(Carlisle, Pa.) – The #12 ranked Dickinson men's lacrosse team bounced back on Saturday with a dominant performance in a 17-5 win over visiting Widener University.
The Red Devils stormed out to an 8-0 lead in the first quarter behind a hat-trick from senior Dylan Maher (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield).
Four different players scored for the Red Devils in the second quarter as they stretched the lead to 12-2 at the break.
The Red Devils kept pace in the third quarter, holding a 4-3 advantage behind a pair of goals from Jack O'Connell (Sands Point, N.Y./Westminster) to put Dickinson up, 16-5, at the end of the third.
First-year Patrick Mangan (Severna Park, Md./Archbishop Spalding) tallied the first goal of his collegiate career, scoring the lone goal of the fourth quarter for the final of 17-5.
Maher led the attack with five goals and two assists on the day while O'Connell finished with a hat trick as well. Junior Bobby Hartwick (Brookeville, Md./Georgetown Prep) won 10-of-19 face-offs and controlled seven ground balls.
The Red Devils improve to 3-2 on the season. They travel to Stevenson University for the Green Turtle Classic next weekend. The Red Devils are set to face the #19-host Mustangs on Friday night at 8:00 pm and take on #2-ranked Denison University on Saturday at 5:30 pm.
