(St. David's, Pa.) – The #10-ranked Dickinson men's lacrosse team had a strong start and rolled to a 19-6 win over Eastern University on Saturday afternoon.
The Red Devils scored the first three goals of the game and led 7-2 at the end of the first quarter behind a pair of goals from senior Jack O'Connell (Sands Point, N.Y./Westminster).
First-year Tucker Booth (Timonium, Md./Boys' Latin) scored the final goal of the first and finished an assist from John Lockwood (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Brother Rice) to start things off in the second.
Ryan Schaffer (West Caldwell, N.J./Caldwell) scored his second of the game and O'Connell completed the hat-trick to stretch the margin to 10-2 before Eastern tallied in the final seconds to make the score 10-3 at halftime.
O'Connell would score twice to open the second half and tally a third on an assist from long pole middie Zach Usich (Avon, Conn./Avon Old Farms) for his sixth of the day.
Lockwood found the net and dished out a pair of assists on the third as well.
Eastern slipped a goal in at the 3:12 and the Red Devils took a 15-4 advantage into the fourth period.
O'Connell struck again and then fed Lockwood as Dickinson outscored the Eagles 4-2 in the fourth for the final of 19-6.
Usich had another solid performance in the midfielder, picking up seven ground balls and forcing four turnovers. Teddy Macfarlane (Baltimore, Md./Gilman) added five GBs and three caused turnovers as well.
O'Connell finished with seven goals and one assist to go over the century mark with 103 career points. Lockwood tallied three goals and three assists while Schaffer finished with a hat-trick and added an assist as well.
The Red Devils improve to 8-2 on the season. They are home next Saturday, hosting Haverford College at 3:00 pm.
