Men's Soccer Topples Garnet 4-1 in CC Opener

(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's soccer team opened Centennial Conference play with a big win over Swarthmore College, posting a 4-1 victory at Miller Memorial Field.

The Garnet struck first, scoring in the 10th minute as Joey Bradley finished an assist from Yuheng Wang. The Red Devils answered with a pair of goals in the first half to take a 2-1 advantage into the break.

Sophomore Mohamed Kourouma (New Haven, Conn./Wilbur Cross) put the Red Devils on the board, scoring off an assist from classmate Will Brock (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg) in the 20th minute.

Dickinson pulled in front just minutes later as Tayler Eynon (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Country Day) tallied an assist, finding Kevin Gilbert (Boxford, Mass./Masconomet Regional) to put the Red Devils in front, 2-1.

The lead held through halftime and Eynon would later add an insurance goal in the 55th minute. Junior Evan Collins (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) closed out the scoring, netting a goal in the 81st minute for the final of 4-1.

The Red Devils held a slim advantage in shots, 17-16, but had a 10-3 advantage in corners. Ian Withy-Berry made six saves as Swarthmore fell to 3-3 overall and 0-1 in the CC.

Junior goaltender Frederick Meagher (Southport, Conn./Fairfield-Ludlowe) made seven saves for the Red Devils.

Dickinson improves to 3-2-1 overall and 1-0-0 in the CC. The Red Devils are on the road on Wednesday, traveling to Frostburg State on Wednesday for a 5:00 pm kick-off.
