(Carlisle, Pa.) – Dickinson senior Ward Van de Water (Warrenton, Va./Highland) and junior Kevin Gilbert (Boxford, Mass./Masconomet Regional) were named to the 2018 United Soccer Coaches Association All-Mid-Atlantic Region Men's Soccer Team.
Both players were named to the Second-team, each making their first appearance on the All-Region squad.
Van de Water had a strong start, scoring five goals in the first five matches of his senior campaign. He finished the season tied for third in the CC with eight goals with three game-winners, including the lone tally to turn back Gettysburg in the first round of the conference tournament. He added a pair of assists to raise his career totals to 17 goals, 12 assists and 46 points.
Van de Water was a First-team All-Centennial Conference selection and was the lone senior on the team. He finished with a career record of 43-26-10, making four conference playoff appearances and two NCAA Tournament appearances.
Gilbert made his second appearance on the All-CC squad, earning First-team this season and Second-team honors last fall. He was one of the top scorers in the CC, ranking second with 12 goals on the season, adding a pair of assists to rank second on points as well with 26.
Gilbert raised his career total to 26 goals, tied for eighth on the program all-time list. He had four multiple-goal games, netting back-to-back game-winners against Muhlenberg and Gettysburg to secure the Devils' spot in the playoffs.
The Red Devils went 11-6-2 overall and finished 5-3-1 to earn the #4-seed in the conference tournament. They put together a six-game unbeaten streak late in the season to secure a spot in the postseason. The Devils posted back-to-back shutouts against Muhlenberg and Gettysburg and blanked the Bullets 1-0 in the first round of the conference tournament
The Centennial Conference was well represented, earning 12 spots in the All-Region roster.
