Men's Squash Posts Sunday Shutouts

(Carlisle, Pa.) – The #21-ranked Dickinson men's squash team posted a pair of 9-0 shutouts over visiting Denison University and Haverford College on Sunday at the Kline Center.

Sophomore Abdelrahman Elsergany (Cairo, Egypt/Kent School, Conn.) claimed the top flight against Denison, (11-6, 11-4, 12-10), as the Red Devils claimed eight, straight-set wins in the match. 

Hal Holappa (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) survived a five-set battle in the second flight (6-11, 11-7, 7-11, 11-2, 11-4) before the Devils tallied 3-0 scores in the next seven matches. Andrew Strudwick (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest Academy) and had a strong win in the four spot (11-2, 11-3, 11-5). 

The Red Devils captured seven straight-set wins in the Haverford match. Elsergany and Holappa went 3-0 at one and two, while Strudwick allowed nine points in his match (11-4, 11-2, 11-3). 

Sophomore Cory Litman (Lower Merion, Pa./Lower Merion) captured the fifth (11-3, 11-1, 11-7) while Harrison Mayo (Penn Valley, Pa./Harriton) and Vincent Warzecha (Chester Springs, Pa./Malvern Prep) had similar and solid performances in the sixth and seventh, (11-4, 11-3, 11-7)  and (11-4, 11-7, 11-3).

Junior Sam Portelance (New Milford, Conn./Canterbury School) had a strong finish in the ninth (11-4, 7-11, 11-2, 11-3). 

The Red Devils even their record to 9-9 on the season. They are scheduled to host George Washington University on Saturday, February 11th at 3:00 pm.
