(Amherst, Mass.) - The #17-ranked Dickinson menâ€™s squash team turned in some competitive matches, but suffered a 6-3 setback to the #13-ranked Navy Academy, at Amherst College on Saturday morning.
First-year Finn Trimble (Whangarei, New Zealand/Whangarei) came out on top of an epic five-set match-up in the top flight, closing things out, 11-0 in the fifth for a 3-2 victory (11-4, 5-11, 12-10, 5-11, 11-0).
Classmate Alex Wattles (Millbrook, N.Y./Millbrook) had a strong showing in the sixth flight, winning 3-0 (11-7, 12-10, 11-9). Osuman Imouro (New Haven, Conn./Trinity Pawling) added another win, overcoming a 2-0 deficit for a 3-2 win in the ninth spot, (7-11, 5-11, 11-8, 11-4, 11-5).
The Red Devils battled throughout the match as five flights went to five sets, including four of the final five of the day.
Frank Goossens (Schaarbeekstraat, Amsterdam/Vossius Gymnasium) and Hal Holappa (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) played to 3-2 setbacks in the second and third while first-year Tanay Murdia (New Fahtehpura Udaipur, India/Delhi Public School) dropped a 3-2 decision in the seven spot.
The Red Devils slip to 6-7 on the season. They travel to Haverford College on February 2nd to face the â€˜Fords at 10:30 am.
