Red Devils Suffer 8-1 Setback at Washington

(Chestertown, Md.) – The Dickinson men's tennis team suffered an 8-1 setback at Washington College on Saturday afternoon. The Shoremen, ranked 20th in the Atlantic South Region, improved to 9-4 overall and 3-2 in the Centennial Conference.

The Red Devils had strong showings in the top two doubles flights, but fell 8-6 and 8-5 as the host Shoremen took a 3-0 lead.

Samuel Loring (New York, N.Y./Blair Academy) joined Shawn Diniz (Upper Saddle River, N.J./Northern Highlands) in the top doubles spot and earned the Devils' point with a (7-5, 6-2) decision in the third singles flight.

First-year Lucas Burstein (Lincolnville, Maine/Camden Hills) battled in the sixth flight, but suffered a 7-5, 6-3 setback.

The Red Devils slip to 2-9 overall and 1-5 in the Conference. They return home for a non-conference double-header with the women as they host Wilkes University on Monday at 4:00 pm.
