Red Devils Perform Well at Mason-Dixon Invite

(Gettysburg, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's and women's track & field teams sent a number of athletes to compete at the Mason-Dixon Invitational, hosted by Gettysburg College.

First-year Isabel Fife (Lancaster, Pa./JP McCaskey) had a strong showing, placing second in the mile with a time of 5:36.97.

Junior Mary Smith (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) did well in the field, placing third in the shot put, fourth in the hammer throw and fifth in the discus.

Sophomore Kyra Ramos (Cumberland, R.I./Lincoln) and first-year Laura Berman (Mendham, N.J./Morris County School of Technology) placed eighth and ninth in the 800-meters, clocking times of 2:36.50 and 2:38.80, respectively.

First-year Jacob Doherty-Munro (Hudson, Mass./Hudson) led the way for the men, winning the steeplechase with a time of 10:24.19.

Classmate Ben Brandeis (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton) captured silver in the 400-meter hurdles with a mark of 57.01 and placed fifth in the 100-meters, crossing in 11.70.

Sophomore Kacper Rzempoluch (Princeton, N.J./West Windsor Plainsboro North) had a pair of top-10 finishes, coming in seventh in the 200-meters (23.64) and placed ninth in the 400-meters with a mark of 52.59.

Junior Ellis Kimmel (Philadelphia, Pa./Central) placed ninth in the shot put and the javelin with throws of 11.04 and 36.59 meters. He was 15th in the discus with a toss of 30.36 meters. Sophomore James Lotz (Forest Hills, Md./Gilman) was eight in the discus (33.14m) and finished 11th in the hammer throw at 35.45 meters.

First-year James Licht (Hanover, N.H./Hanover) was 10th in the javelin and 13th in the shot put while senior Francisco Villarreal (Carson, Calif./Carson) was 12th in the shot.

The Dickinson Track & Field coaches also competed throughout the day, with Coach Matt Persick placing 4th in the 5000m, and Coach Eric Bologa placing 1st in the 110-meter hurdles and 6th in the 200-meters.

The Red Devils are next set to compete at the Penn Relays at the University of Pennsylvania on Thursday.
