Brandeis Wins Hurdles at Blue Jay Invite

(Elizabethtown, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's track & field team placed sixth at the 10-team Elizabethtown Blue Jay Final Tune-Up on Saturday as teams prepare for conference championships.

First-year Ben Brandeis (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton) won the 400-meter hurdles and placed second with the 4x100 relay. Classmate Aaron Brick (Wilmington, Del./Wilmington Friends) joined the 4x100 relay and added a second-place finish in the 200 meters.

Sophomore Garrett Randall (Gwynn Oak, Md./Loyola-Blakefield) and junior Michael Murphy (West Pittston, Pa./Wyoming Area) ran the other two legs of the 4x100 relay and placed seventh and eighth, respectively, in the 100-meters.

Ellis Kimmel (Philadelphia, Pa./Central) claimed silver in the shot put while first-year Jake Licht (Hanover, N.H./Hanover) threw well, taking second in the javelin, ninth in both the hammer and the shot put and 11th in the discus.

Francisco Villarreal (Carson, Calif./Carson) was fourth in the hammer throw and eighth in the discus while Max Yoshida (Grosse Point Woods, Mich./Grosse Point) placed fourth in the shot and discus.

Sophomore Gavin Wood (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) earned silver in the pole vault and had a top-10 showing in the long jump. The Red Devils had a strong showing in the long jump as Ben Sobel (Hanover, N.H./Hanover) placed third with Adam Gamber (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) and Tristan Clark (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern York) coming in fourth and fifth.

The Red Devils travel to Muhlenberg College next weekend for the 2019 Centennial Conference Outdoor Championships.
