Zoe Matherne (Holy Cross '18) joins the Dickinson coaching staff as a volunteer assistant with the men and women’s cross country programs this fall. Matherne is a 2018 graduate of the College of The Holy Cross where she had an outstanding career in cross country and track & field.
Matherne served as a team captain her senior year and excelled on the track, setting Holy Cross program records in 800, 1000 and 1500 meter events, and the mile. She qualified for the NCAA Division I National Championships during the 2017 and 2018 seasons and was named the programs Most Valuable Performer in 2015-16, 2016-17 and 2017-18.
She was honored as the Holy Cross Crusader of the Year Award, presented to a senior student-athlete who excelled in varsity athletics and in the classroom and the Varsity Club Norton Award as the most outstanding student-athlete in the senior class. Matherne received the 2018 Honors in History Award, was a member of the Phi Alpha Theta History Honors Society and a three-time selection to the All-Academic Patriot League Team. In addition, she was nominated for the 2018 NCAA Woman of the Year Award.
Matherne was very active with the Student-Athlete-Advisory-Committee (SAAC), holding office as the Vice President in 2017-18 and the Treasurer during the 2016-17 academic year. She graduated Cum Laude with B.A. in History and Education.
