(Williamstown, Mass.) – The Dickinson men's cross country team had a great outing at the Purple Valley Classic, hosted by Williams College on Saturday. The Red Devils, ranked 32nd in the latest national poll, finished eighth out of strong field of 23 teams.
The Red Devils finished ahead of #25-ranked NYU and #28 Tufts University as they look to move up in next week's poll.
Senior Mason Hepner (Mount Joy, Pa./Manheim Central) led the way, placing 24th in the individual standings with a time of 26:09. Sophomore Eric Herrmann (Saint James, N.Y./Smithtown) added a top-50 showing with a time of 26:43.
Junior Nathan Udell (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis) and first-year Bryce Descavish (Ebensburg, Pa./Central Cambria) crossed the line together with times of 26:55 and 26:57. Sophomore Duncan Hopkins (Lancaster, Pa./JP McCaskey) finished with a mark of 27:08.
#2-ranked SUNY Geneseo proved its ranking, winning the team title and holding off #3-ranked Williams (48-64) with sixth-ranked MIT claiming third.
The Red Devils return home to host the Dickinson Long/Short Course Invitational next Saturday at Big Spring High School in Newville, Pa.
