(Newville, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's cross country team captured the overall team title at the Dickinson Long Course/Short Course Invitational at Big Spring High School on Saturday afternoon. The Red Devil men also claimed team wins in both the 4k and 8k races.
Kyle Fitch (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) and Matthew Ferry (Philadelphia, Pa./Science Leadership) placed fifth and seventh with times of 27:41 and 28:18, respectively, while senior Cole Rinehart (Mount Joy, Pa./Donegal) added a top 10 finish with a time of 28:54.
In the men's short course event, the Red Devils claimed the top two spots as sophomore Eric Herrmann (Saint James, N.Y./Smithtown) won the race with a time of 12:32 and classmate Duncan Hopkins (Lancaster, Pa./JP McCaskey) crossed the line second in 12:46.
First-year Matt Loalbo (Hamden, Conn./Hamden) and senior Eli Laue (Troy, Pa./Troy) came in sixth and seventh with times of 13:05 and 13:12, and junior Matt Persick (West Chester, Pa./B. Reed Henderson) was 10th with a mark of 13:19.
The Red Devils scored nine points in the long race and eight in the short for a combined score of 17. Lebanon Valley combined for 48 points to claim second, ahead of Geneva College with 69.
The Red Devils are in action again next Saturday, competing at the De Sales University Invitational.
