(Bethlehem, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's cross country team finished fifth out of a 52-team field at the 2016 NCAA Mideast Region Championships on Saturday. The Centennial Conference claimed the top two spots as Johns Hopkins edged Haverford by just one point, 64-65. The CC had 12 runners in the top 20 and placed six in the top 10 on the afternoon.
The Red Devils improved from an eighth place showing in 2015 as senior Mason Hepner (Mount Joy, Pa./Manheim Central) led the way, earning All-Mideast Region honors with a 17th place finish, clocking a time of 25:32.
First-year Bryce Descavish (Ebensburg, Pa./Central Cambria) ran to All-Region honors as well, placing 34th overall with a time of 25:57. He was named to the All-Region Freshman team as the second first-year in the individual standings.
Sophomore Eric Herrmann (Saint James, N.Y./Smithtown) finished in the top 50, crossing the line 47th with a time of 26:21.
Nathan Udell (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis) and Patrick Nolan (Westport, Conn./Staples) both clocked times of 26:32 while first-year Matt Loalbo (Hamden, Conn./Hamden) and sophomore Duncan Hopkins (Lancaster, Pa./JP McCaskey) came in at 27:46 and 28:34, respectively.
Widener University captured the top two individual spots to earn a sixth place finish in the team standings. Ernie Pitone finished six seconds ahead of teammate Will McDermott with a winning time of 24:52.
