Descavish Runs to All-Region XC Honors

(Newville, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's cross country team placed fifth at the 2017 NCAA Mideast Regionals, hosted by the Red Devils at Big Spring High School in Newville, Pa., on Saturday.

Sophomore Bryce Descavish (Ebensburg, Pa./Central Cambria) earned All-Region honors, placing 34th overall with time of 25:55.

Junior Eric Herrmann (Saint James, N.Y./Smithtown) was just two places shy of all-region, coming across the line 37th in a time of 26:05.

Junior Duncan Hopkins (Lancaster, Pa./JP McCaskey) and senior Billy Dougherty (Mt. Lebanon, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) came in 46th and 47th, posting times of 26:16 and 26:17, and Kyle Fitch (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) was 85th in 27 minutes flat.

#3-ranked Haverford claimed the team title, capturing the top three spots in the race, led by Graham Peet with a winning time of 25:22.

#16-ranked Carnegie Mellon was third, followed by #12-ranked Johns Hopkins and #23-ranked York College.

The Red Devils must now wait for possible at-large bids to be announced on Sunday afternoon for the NCAA National Championships, next weekend.
