(Collegeville, Pa.) – The Dickinson College women's basketball team posted a key Centennial Conference road win at Ursinus on Saturday, topping the Bears, 49-45.
The Red Devils pulled in front 15-8 midway through the first half and led for almost the entire contest. The Devils stretched the lead to eight with just over five minutes remaining in the half. The Bears rallied with an 8-3 run to pull within 26-23 at the break.
A Kristy George three-pointer gave Ursinus a 30-29 lead early in the second half. The Devils regained the advantage but could not extend the margin by more than three until a late run with just over five minutes remaining in regulation.
The Devils broke a 35-35 tie with a 10-0 run, led by five points from senior Alesha Sisco (Effort, Pa./Blair Academy). The Bears fought back once more, pulling within three points with just 26 seconds left to play. Senior Carole Dempsey (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill) converted one-of-two free throws at the nine second mark to secure the win for the Red Devils.
Sisco finished with game-highs of 18 points and nine rebounds, finishing just shy of a double-double. She added four assists, three steals and hit 6-of-7 free throws. Dempsey tallied 10 points, four rebounds, two assists and a pair of steals.
Jaclyn Hilf led Ursinus (11-7, 8-6) with 10 points and four assists. Sarah Martin added seven points and eight rebounds.
The Red Devils improve to 8-10 overall and 6-8 in the Centennial Conference. They return home to face McDaniel College at 6:00 pm on Wednesday night.
