(Haverford, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's basketball team dropped a 54-40 decision at Haverford College as they returned to Centennial Conference play on Saturday afternoon.
The 'Fords jumped out to a 17-9 lead in the first quarter and led 23-16 at the break after the Red Devils edged the hosts in a defensive second quarter, 7-6.
Sierra Berkel led Haverford with 13 points in the third quarter as they outscored the Red Devils, 22-13. Dickinson closed out the game with an 11-9 advantage in the fourth, led by four points each from Kassidy Lesher (Shoemakersville, Pa./Hamburg) and Emily Padalino (West Sand Lake, N.Y./Albany Academy).
Sophomore Hannah Heiring (Wayzata, Minn./Wayzata) led the Red Devils with 14 points on the afternoon, adding four rebounds and a pair of blocked shots. Classmate Lauren McBride (Trenton, N.J./St. Gill Bernard's) tallied six points and six rebounds while Lizzie Becker (Philadelphia, Pa./Germantown Friends) scored six points to go with a pair of assists, two steals and three rebounds.
Lesher pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds while Padalino controlled eight boards.
Berkel led Haverford with a double-double, scoring 20 points and grabbing 12 rebounds as the 'Fords improve to 8-2 overall and 5-1 in the conference.
The Red Devils slip to 2-9 and 2-4. They return home to host Bryn Mawr College on Tuesday night at 6:00 pm.
