Red Devils Hit First 13 Shots in 94-60 Victory

(Swarthmore, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's basketball team stormed out to an early lead at Swarthmore, netting its first 13 shots of the game on the way to a 94-60 win on Thursday night.

First-year Kate Deutsch (Marlton, N.J./Camden Catholic) eclipsed her recent career-high, scoring 30 points in just 25 minutes of action. She shot a remarkable 93 percent from the field, hitting 14-of-15 shots on the night.

Sophomore Halle Maeda (Santa Monica, Calif./Mira Costa) knocked down a trio of three-pointers as the Red Devils rolled to a 15-0 lead and stretched the margin to 33-11 at the end of the first quarter.

Deutsch finished the first half with 20 points and six rebounds as Dickinson went into the break with a 47-24 advantage. She tallied back-to-back field-goals to put the Red Devils up, 56-25, with just over seven minutes to play in the third quarter.

The Red Devils opened the lead to 77-41 lead at the end of the third as Emily Padalino (West Sand Lake, N.Y./Albany Academy) beat the buzzer.

First-year Gabby Sevrain (New Tripoli, Pa./Northwest Area) had a great fourth quarter as the Red Devils crept toward the century mark.

Deutsch finished with a double-double adding 10 rebounds to her 30 points while handing out three assists. Maeda went 4-for-5 from three-point land to tally 14 points.

Sevrain added seven points and three rebounds while Padalino scored nine points and Jennifer Kremp (Jenkintown, Pa./Jenkintown) had eight points, six rebounds and five assists.

Claudia Maira (Clinton, N.J./North Hunterdon) netted seven points and four assists. Katie Weaver (Malvern, Pa./Episcopal Academy) tallied six assists and five rebounds, and Lizzie Becker (Philadelphia, Pa./Germantown Friends) chipped in with six points and five assists on the night.

The Red Devils improve to 6-7 overall and 3-5 in the Centennial Conference. They return home to face Washington College on Saturday at 2:00 pm.
