(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's basketball team put in a solid night's work to post a 60-56 win over visiting Franklin & Marshall on Thursday night at the Kline Center.

The Red Devils and Diplomats essentially traded quarters in the first half with F&M slipping in front at the break, 30-28.

The Diplomats scored the first four points before Emily Padalino (West Sand Lake, N.Y./Albany Academy) knocked down a three-pointer to get the Red Devils started.

Claudia Maira (Clinton, N.J./North Hunterdon) hit a jumper and first-year Kate Deutsch (Marlton, N.J./Camden Catholic) scored three straight baskets as Dickinson stretched the margin to 13-4 and led 15-9 at the end of the first quarter.

F&M cut the deficit to one before the Red Devils answered with a 9-2 run to make the score 24-16, with 6:08 remaining in the half. Jennifer Kremp (Jenkintown, Pa./Jenkintown) sandwiched a pair of and-ones around a three-pointer from Maira to lead the charge.

The Diplomats closed out the half with a run of their own to take a 30-28 advantage into halftime.

Kremp buried a three-pointer to start the second half and followed up with a nice dish to Deutsch to put the Red Devils back in front. F&M pulled even, and the margin never went above three for the entire quarter as the teams ended the period tied at 41-41.

Senior Jonica Brown (Mohnton, Pa./The Hill School) buried a three-pointer to put Dickinson up, 47-44, with just over six minutes to play.

Deutsch countered an F&M free throw with an assist to Padalino and then finished inside to give the Red Devils a 51-45 lead at the midpoint of the half. Emily Moran traded three-pointers with Padalino but Sarah Pisani answered with another for the Diplomats.

The Red Devils played with a lot of composure down the stretch and Katie Weaver (Malvern, Pa./Episcopal Academy) found Deutsch for a six-point lead with just 30 seconds on the clock.

The Diplomats kept coming and would again pull within three, but the Red Devils held on with a late free throw from Maira to secure the win.

Deutsch turned in another strong performance, recording a double-double with a game-high 19 points to go with 13 rebounds and three blocked shots.

Padalino tallied 15 points and three assists while Kremp reached double-figures with 11 points, four rebounds and two steals. Maira was all over the floor adding nine points, six rebounds, four steals and three assists.

Weaver dominated the glass with six rebounds, including five on the offensive end, adding four assists, two steals and blocked shot. Brown gave the Devils a huge spark with four steals, a block and assist to go with a big three-pointer on the night.

The Red Devils improve to 11-11 overall and 8-9 in the Centennial Conference.
