(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's basketball team celebrated Senior Day with a big win over Swarthmore College, turning back the Garnet 77-45.
The Red Devils stormed out to an 11-2 lead in the opening four minutes and would hold the visitors to single digits in both the first and second quarter.
Senior Jonica Brown (Mohnton, Pa./The Hill School) led the Red Devils with five points as they ended the first with an 18-6 advantage, outscoring the Garnet, 10-0, in the paint.
The Garnet outscored the Devils in a defensive second quarter, but Dickinson would take a 26-15 lead into halftime.
First-year Jennifer Kremp (Jenkintown, Pa./Jenkintown) knocked down a three-pointer and then went coast-to-coast off a steal to quickly stretch the lead to 31-15. Kate Deutsch (Marlton, N.J./Camden Catholic) scored off a pair of steals and margin grew to 22 at 3:47 mark.
The Red Devils continued to roll as Emily Padalino (West Sand Lake, N.Y./Albany Academy) hit a three-pointer and Kremp buried two more in the final minute to stretch the lead to 55-26 at the end of the third.
Junior Hannah Heiring (Wayzata, Minn./Wayzata) kept things rolling in the fourth quarter, hitting a three-pointer and a jumper to start the period. The Red Devils finished strong with solid play from everyone on the floor.
Kremp led the way with a game-high 21 points, going 6-for-7 from the line and adding four steals. Padalino tallied 11 points and seven rebounds while Brown reached double-figures with 10 points, adding three rebounds.
Claudia Maira (Clinton, N.J./North Hunterdon) and Katie Weaver (Malvern, Pa./Episcopal Academy) each scored six points and controlled six rebounds while combining for nine assists. Maira tallied four steals on the afternoon as well.
The Red Devils improve to 12-11 overall and 9-9 in the Centennial Conference. They are home again on Wednesday night, hosting Gettysburg College a 6:00 pm.
