Coach Gingrich (Wittenberg '75) joined the Red Devil women’s basketball staff in 2016-17 and is in his second season at Dickinson. A 1975 graduate of Wittenberg University, Gingrich went on to Ohio State University and earned degrees in pharmacy and dentistry.
Gingrich retired from dental practice in 2015 and has had a lifelong family connection to Dickinson. Both his parents and grandparents are graduates of Dickinson while his wife worked at the college for 24 years.
His grandmother, grandfather and uncle all played basketball for Dickinson. Having graduated from Williamsport High School, a perennial state power in basketball, and Wittenberg, Gingrich’s passion for and knowledge of the game, were shaped by his exposure to a pair of excellent programs. Wittenberg remains one of the all-time leaders in Division III basketball for wins.
Gingrich feels privileged to be a part of the basketball program and have the opportunity to give back to a school that has meant so much to his family. He resides in Carlisle, and has two daughters and five grandchildren.
