(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's lacrosse team overpowered Bryn Mawr College, 19-5, in Saturday's Centennial Conference opener at Biddle Field.
The Red Devils took an early lead, scoring four goals in the opening five minutes of the game. First-year Maddy Siebold (Mountain Lakes, N.J./Mountain Lakes) struck twice to put the Red Devils on the board.
Katie Iverson (Marblehead, Mass./Pingree School) assisted the second goal and then finished an assist from Siebold, to put the Devils in front 4-0, at the 24:59 mark.
Kathleen Magner converted a free-position shot to break up the run. Iverson answered before Magner assisted Ashton Dwyer to make the score 5-2, with 18:51 remaining in the half.
Dickinson strung together another four-goal run and outscored the Owls, 7-1, to take a 12-3 advantage at halftime. Magner opened the scoring in the second half, but the Red Devils countered with five straight goals before Magner stopped the run at the 3:54 mark.
Carly O'Brien (Cranbury, N.J./Princeton Day) closed out the scoring with a pair of goals in the final minute to five her a game-high five on the afternoon, adding an assist.
Seibold finished with three goals and an assist. First-year Alyssa Kanter (Swampscott, Mass./Tabor Academy) found the net twice while sophomore Caroline Clancy (Monkton, Md./Hereford) added a goal and an assist, and caused a pair of turnovers.
Magner tallied three goals and an assist, controlling four draws. Katie Alpert made 10 saves for Bryn Mawr (3-5, 0-3).
The Red Devils improve to 6-2 overall and 1-0 in the Centennial Conference. They travel to Ursinus College, next Saturday for a 1:00 pm start.
