#6-Ranked Bullets Top Devils 15-7

 

 

(Gettysburg, Pa.) – The #6-ranked Bullets of Gettysburg proved worthy, posting a 15-7 win over visiting Dickinson on Wednesday.

 

The host Bullets struck first, scoring 4:20 into the game on an unassisted goal from Maggie Connolly. Sophomore Jennifer Morrissey (Rockville, Md./Our Lady of Good Counsel) found the net to tie the game at the 22:17 mark.

 

Mandy Buell netted three straight goals to put Gettysburg in front, 4-1. The Bullets stretched the lead to 8-1 as Buell tallied an assist with 7:34 to play in the half.

 

First-year Sophie Waine (Wellesley, Mass./Greenwich) finished an assist from Sydney Stern (Bedford, N.Y./Fox Lane) with 5:53 remaining in the half. Caroline Clancy (Monkton, Md./Hereford) found the net off an assist from Carly O'Brien (Cranbury, N.J./Princeton Day) to pull the Devils within 8-3 at halftime.

 

Sophomore Catie Ledwick (Weston, Conn./Weston) cut the lead in half off an assist from O'Brien to open the second half. Katie Iverson (Marlborough, Mass./Pingree School) scored to give Stern her 21st assist of the season.

 

Buell answered with a free position shot to extend the lead back to 10-5. Kelly Haglund (Chevy Chase, Md./Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Hear) and Clancy sandwiched goals around the second goal from Kelly Markiewicz to make the score 12-7.

 

Katie Blumenthal scored twice before Buell scored the final goal for the final of 15-7.

 

Buell finished with five goals and one assist while Shannon Keeler made seven saves as the Bullets improved to 8-1 overall and 3-0 in the conference.

 

JoJo Auerbach (Chevy Chase, Md./Bullis School) made four saves in the first half. Tara Cuddihy (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) came on for the second half, making eight saves. Moira Mahoney (Wayne, Pa./Radnor) controlled four draws for the Devils.

 

The Red Devils slip to 7-3 overall and 2-1 in the conference. They travel to Haverford College on Saturday. The opening draw is set for 12:00 pm.
