Great Outing Falls Short in Conference Semifinal

(Lancaster, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's lacrosse team had another strong outing at #7-ranked Franklin & Marshall, but the Diplomats used a strong start to the second half to secure a 12-8 decision in the semifinals of the Centennial Conference Championship on Saturday.

Eleanor Kaestner (Glyndon, Md./Franklin) put the Red Devils on the board first, scoring off an assist from Anne Dunster (Cos Cobb, Conn./Greenwich), just 2:34 into the contest.

First-year Erika Bloes (Riverside, Conn./Greenwich) scored twice to put the Red Devils up, 3-1, with 22 minutes to play in the half.

Paige Moriarty scored three straight to put Franklin & Marshall in front, 5-3, finishing a pair of assists from Jane Cote.

Dunster found Kaestner for her second goal of the game and Sam Marmo (Upper Saddle River, N.J./Immaculate Heart Academy) capitalized with a free position to things up, 5-5.

Grace Norley put the Diplomats back in front, 6-5, scoring with 1:02 to play in the half.

F&M scored three straight to start the second half before Maddie Parker (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman) broke up the run. Mack Maurer (Charlottesville, Va./St. Anne's Belfield) found the net and Dunster added a goal to cut the deficit to 10-8, with just over 10 minutes to play.

The Diplomats would close out the scoring on a pair of assists from Clare Monaghan for the final of 12-8.

Parker tallied four draw controls while Maurer came away with three in the day. The Red Devils held their own on draws with F&M claiming 11 and the Red Devils 10.

Avery Priest (San Rafael, Calif./St. Ignatius Prep) finished with nine saves.

The Red Devils finish 9-9 on the season.
