Young Nets Game Winner in Final Seconds

(Allentown, Pa.) – The Dickinson College women's soccer team scored with just 24 seconds remaining in regulation to post a 1-0 win at Muhlenberg on Saturday afternoon.


First-year Allie Young (New Canaan, Conn./St. Luke's) collected a lead pass from classmate Julia Thayer (Washington, D.C./Maret School) on a beautiful clear from junior Casey Reilly (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) with time winding down.


Young scored on just the Devils' third shot of the second half. The Mules held the advantage in shots, 11-5, while each team forced three corners on the day.


Junior Annie Weichert (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) turned in a strong performance in the Devil nets, making five saves to earn her third shutout of the season. The win marked the fifth shutout for the Devils as a team, opening the season with four straight.


Michele Toher made one save in goal for Muhlenberg. The Mules slip to 4-5-1 overall and 1-2-1 in the Centennial Conference. The Devils improve to 5-3-1 and 2-2 in the conference. The Devils return home to face McDaniel College on Wednesday at 5:00 pm.
