Women's Soccer Battles Berks to Scoreless Draw

(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's soccer team played to a scoreless draw with Penn State Berks at Miller Memorial Field on a rainy Wednesday afternoon.

Senior goaltender Mary Katherine Brosnan (Old Tappan, N.J./Northern Valley Old Tappan) turned away nine shots on the night to earn the shutout while Bristol Pizzuto made five saves to keep the Lions level on the afternoon.

The Red Devils held the advantage in the first half, producing seven shots while allowing just four, defensively. The Lions held a 10-5 advantage in the second but the margin at the end of overtime was 17-16 in favor of the visitors.

Penn State held a 10-5 advantage in corners, forcing a pair in the second overtime but the Red Devils were able to hold.

The Red Devils move to 4-1-1 on the season while the Lions stand at 1-1-1. Dickinson opens Centennial Conference play on Saturday, hosting #12-ranked Swarthmore College at 1:00 pm.
