(Grantham, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's swim team earned key points in the final event to overtake Messiah College on Wednesday night. The Red Devils captured first and third in the 200 free relay to win the meet, 106-98.
Sophomore Demetria Ruhl (Wilmington, Del./Wilmington Friends) dominated the distance events, winning the 1000 and 500-yard freestyle with times of 11:15.07 and 5:32.88. She joined the winning free relay as well, swimming the third leg while Samantha Florio (Stamford, Conn./Wilton) touched the wall first in the anchor leg.
First-year Madison Littlepage (Aldie, Va./John Champe) was second behind Ruhl in both events, touching the wall in 11:28.79 and 5:35.00 flat, and was third with the free relay.
Sophomore Lindsay Robinson (Holland, Pa./Council Rock South) captured a pair of silvers in the 200 individual medley (2:22.00) and the 100 yard breaststroke (1:14.88). First-year Hannah Griffith (Lansdale, Pa./William Penn Charter) won the breaststroke with a mark of 1:10.29 and earned second-place points with the 200 medley relay (1:53.76).
Samantha Holden (Garret Park, Md./Walter Johnson) anchored the medley relay, adding another silver in the 100 freestyle (57.82) and finishing third in the 50 free (26.65). Molly Sternick (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) finished just ahead of Holden in the 50, posting a time of 26.19, and joined the medley relay.
Devon Korhammer (Easton, Pa./Moravian Academy) led-off the winning free relay and was second with the medley relay and in the 100 backstroke, touching the wall in 1:06.05.
Shannon Bonner (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland) swam the lead leg of the winning free relay as they clocked a time of 1:48.29 and claimed third in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:12.11.
The Red Devils improve to 4-3 on the season. They are on the road again this weekend traveling to the Gettysburg Invitational on Friday night and Saturday.
