Swimming Battles Swarthmore on Senior Day

(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's swim team celebrated senior day on Saturday but suffered a 122-82 setback to visiting Swarthmore College in the dual meet finale.

Sophomore Molly Sternick (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) was a triple-winner on the afternoon, capturing the 100 individual medley (1:02.02) and the 100 freestyle (55.29), and joining the 400 medley relay for a winning mark of 4:08.68.

Junior Olivia Lyman (Mount Kisco, N.Y./Horace Greeley) dominated the distance events, winning both the 1000 freestyle (10:49.93) and the 500 with a time of 5:18.96.

Junior Katie Schmidt (Plymouth, Minn./Breck School) swam the lead leg of the medley relay and placed second in the 200 backstroke, clocking a time of 2:13.40.

Sophomore Demetria Ruhl (Wilmington, Del./Wilmington Friends) claimed silver in the 200 butterfly (2:19.65) and third in the 200 free (2:04.85). She joined the free relay for another silver as they combined for a mark of 1:48.06.

Junior Shannon Bonner (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland) swam the lead leg of the free relay while sophomore Samantha Florio (Stamford, Conn./Wilton) was on the anchor.

First-year Hannah Griffith (Lansdale, Pa./William Penn Charter) was part of both relays while senior Samantha Holden (Garret Park, Md./Walter Johnson) anchored the medley.

The Red Devils slip to 7-7 overall and 2-5 in the Centennial Conference. They travel to the CC Championships on February 22-25, at Franklin & Marshall.
