Lavery, Rodgers Earn All-Centennial Women's Tennis Honors

(Lancaster, Pa.) – Dickinson College women's tennis players Alysia Rodgers (Bethesda, Md./Walter Johnson) and Shannon Lavery (Huntington, W. Va./Huntington) were both named to the 2012 All-Centennial Conference Team, announced on Wednesday.


Rodgers earned First-team recognition in singles and joined Lavery to earn Honorable mention in doubles. Rodgers, playing in the top singles flight, posted a 13-4 overall record and an 8-2 mark in conference play. She raised her career record at Dickinson to 31-19 in singles. Rodgers makes her second appearance on the All-Centennial team, earning Second-team honors in singles in 2010.


Lavery and Rodgers were a dominant force in the top doubles flight, finishing 12-5 overall. They were 7-3 in Centennial Conference matches. She also had a great year in singles, posting a 14-4 overall record, playing 16 matches in the second fight and going 1-1 in the top flight.


The Red Devils tied the school record for wins in a season, finishing 15-4 overall. They earned the #2-seed on the Centennial Conference playoffs, marking their highest finish in program history. The Red Devils won six straight matches and went 9-1 to close out the regular season schedule.
