Bullets Slip Past Red Devils 5-4

(Gettysburg, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's tennis team suffered a heartbreaker on Wednesday, falling 5-4 at Gettysburg College.

The Bullets captured first and second doubles to take a 2-1 lead into singles. Olivia Shea (West Hartford, Conn./Kingswood-Oxford) and Elisa Varlotta (Pittsburgh, Pa./Brashear) claimed the point in the third flight with an 8-6 decision.

Shea earned another point in the fifth singles flight, winning that match (6-3, 6-0).

Senior Lydia Fox (Saratoga Springs, N.Y./Arlington) won the fourth flight (6-2, 6-1) and Rachel O'Brien (West Roxbury, Mass./Dana Hall School) overcame a tough first set and finished strong to claim the sixth (3-6, 6-4, 6-0).

The Red Devils slip to 5-5 overall and 2-2 in the Centennial Conference. They return home to host Swarthmore College on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
