Germain Claims Gold, Silver in Season Opener

(Lancaster, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's track & field team opened the indoor season at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational on Saturday.

Senior Aphnie Germain (Orange, N.J./Orange) turned in a pair of strong performances, winning the 200 meters with a time of 26.47 and claiming second in the 60-meter dash with an unofficial mark of 7.72. Sophomore Naji Thompson (Springfield, N.J./Oak Knoll) ran to third in the 200 (26.79) and placed fourth in the 60 meters with a time of 7.80.

First-year Natalie Suess (New Egypt, N.J./New Egypt) broke the school record by over a foot, placing second in the triple jump with a distance of 11.27 meters.

Senior Adriana Frayne-Reixa (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman) won the mile with a time of 5:24.22. First-year McKenna Spaulding (Storrs, Conn./Edwin O. Smith) crossed the line fifth, clocking a time of 5:38.28. They both placed second with the 4x800 relay, joining Julia Snyder (Lancaster, Pa./JP McCaskey) and Kellyn Madden (Haddon Township, Pa./Haddon Township).

Senior Amanda Jimcosky (Benton, Pa./Northwest Area) matched her own school record and the top height in the high jump but claimed second in a tie-breaker, clearing 1.65 meters. Senior Imani Beard (New York, N.Y./MLK) was eighth in the high jump with a mark of 1.45 meters. She placed third in the long jump with a distance of 5.12 meters and clocked a time of 8.38 seconds in the 60 meters.

Sofia Canning (Portland, Maine/Waynflete) captured bronze in the 5,000 meters with a time of 17:39.39. Sophomore Lucile Ionescu (Maple Glen, Pa./Upper Dublin) was ninth, posting a time of 18:26.12.

First-year Sarah House (Merrimack, N.H./Merrimack) and sophomore Olivia Lowden (Wallingford, Conn./Choate Rosemary Hall) finished eighth and ninth in the 3,000 meters. They crossed the line in 11:04.09 and 11:07.48, respectively.

Caitlin Farrell (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) and Olivia Watson (Weston, Conn./Weston) added top 10 showings in the 800 meters. Farrell clocked a time of 2:26.19 to place sixth while Watson was ninth in 2:31.02. Watson was ninth in the mile as well with a time of 5:50.27.

The Red Devils return to action on January 27th, traveling to the Bison Open at Bucknell University.
