George Wins 800 Meters at Shippensburg Invite

(Shippensburg, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's track & field team had some great performances at the Shippensburg Invitational on Wednesday afternoon.

Senior Jamie George (Hightstown, N.J./The Peddie School) clocked a season-best to win the 800 meters, crossing the line in 2:19.25. She led off the 4x400 relay to a time of 4:08.43 as they finished second.

Naji Thompson (Springfield, N.J./Oak Knoll) anchored the 4x400 relay, and had strong races to claim fourth in the both the 100 and 200 meters as the Division II Raiders claimed the top three spots. She had a season-best in the 100 with a mark of 12.42 and crossed the line in 27.32 on the 200-meter race.

Lauren Suess (New Egypt, N.J./New Egypt) and Aphnie Germain (Orange, N.J./Orange) ran the middle legs of the 4x400 relay and Suess ran to fourth in the 400 meter hurdles with a season-best 1:12.71. Eryn Nelson (York, Pa./Central York) finished third in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 19.23.

Natalie Suess (New Egypt, N.J./New Egypt) clocked a time of 1:03.81 in the 400 meters and added a top 10 showing in the 100.

Sophomore Olivia Watson (Weston, Conn./Weston) ran to second in the 1500 meters, posting a mark of 4:58.94 and placed sixth in the 800 with a time of 2:31.10.

Claire Connors (Needham, Mass./Needham) came in at 2:31.44 in the 800 while McKenna Spaulding (Storrs, Conn./Edwin O. Smith) was fourth in the 1500, posting a time of 5:09.53.

Senior Amanda Jimcosky (Benton, Pa./Northwest Area) cleared a height of 1.58 meters to finish second in the high jump. Imani Beard (New York, N.Y./MLK) cleared the bar at 1.48 in the high jump and went 5.25 meters in the long jump, marking season-bests in both events.

The Red Devils claimed the top four spots in the 3000 meters, led by Hannah Gore (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) with a time of 10:33.92.

First-year Sarah House (Merrimack, N.H./Merrimack) was second with a time of 10:34.45 while Kelsey Horowitz (Stow, Mass./Nashoba Regional) and Tessa Cassidy (Brunswick, Maine/Brunswick) clocked marks of 10:35.48 and 10:41.50, respectively.

Sofia Canning (Portland, Maine/Waynflete) won the 5000 with a time of 18:13.66. Molly Conrad (Needham, Mass./Needham) was second (18:51.91) with Polly Terzian (Washington, D.C./National Cathedral) and Stefani Zaharieva (Sofia, Bulgaria) crossing the line in 19:24.51 and 19:31.22 to claim third and fourth.

Niomi Phillips (Oakmont, Pa./Riverview) had a throw of 36.14 meters to place fourth in the javelin and placed seventh in the shot put with a toss of 10.81 meters. First-year Mary Smith (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) had a throw 32.93 in the discus.

The Red Devils travel to Gettysburg College on Saturday for the Mason-Dixon Invitational.
