Seniors Shine as Red Devils Capture Du Charme Title

(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's indoor track & field team celebrated Senior Day at the Kline Center, winning the 2019 Du Charme Invitational on Sunday. The Red Devils combined for 185 points to better second-place Elizabethtown who finished with 169 while the University of Scranton was next with 104.

The Red Devils had a strong start, running to first and second in the 3000-meters. Sophomore Isabel Cardi (Media, Pa./Strath Haven) clocked a winning time of 10:05.57 while junior Tessa Cassidy (Brunswick, Maine/Brunswick) finished second with a mark of 10:42.06. They both joined the winning Distance Medley Relay to post a winning time of 13:07.80. Senior Lucile Ionescu (Maple Glen, Pa./Upper Dublin) was fifth in the 3000.

Sarah House (Merrimack, N.H./Merrimack) and Emma Johnston (Pelham, N.Y./Pelham Memorial) ran the other two legs of the DMR and went one-two in the mile, respectively. House crossed the line in 5:14.44 to claim the win with Johnston crossing the line in 5:20.67.

Senior Naji Thompson (Springfield, N.J./Oak Knoll) had big dig as well, winning the 55 meters, the 200-meters and the 4x200 relay. She posted a great time of 7.46 in the 55 and came in at 27.54 to win the 200. She ran the lead leg of the 4x200 that combined for a mark of 1:53.00. Junior Wrutoe Bonwin (Lynn, Mass./KIPP Academy Lynn Collegiate) was second in the 55-meters with a time of 7.93.

Junior Liana Tabtiang (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley) earned a pair of wins with the 4x400 and 4x200 relay teams.

Sophomores Allyson Yanega (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) and Sarah Yanega (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) ran the anchor and lead legs of the 4x400 relay for a time of 4:21.80. They finished first and second in the 800 meters with Allyson posting a time of 2:19.01 while Sarah came in at 2:23.29.

Olivia Watson (Weston, Conn./Weston) ran the third leg of the 4x400 and classmate Eryn Nelson (York, Pa./Central York) joined the 4x200 and placed third in the 200-meters with a time of 29.18.

Recent Dickinson graduate Niomi Phillips (Oakmont, Pa./Riverview) won the shot put with a throw of 10.62 meters. Mary Smith (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) and Charlese Reynolds (Newark, N.J./Lawrenceville School) were fifth and sixth, respectively.

The Red Devils will next compete at the Centennial Conference Championships on February 23-24 at Franklin & Marshall.
