(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson volleyball team rallied to capture the third set and almost forced a fifth, but Haverford College would on for a 3-1 decision on Wednesday night at the Kline Center.
The visitors used quick starts to take an early lead in the first two sets, pulling in front, 2-0, with scores of 25-18 and 25-17.
The Red Devils jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the third and went on to claim the set, 25-18. The teams traded points in the early going of the fourth before Dickinson pulled in front, 13-9.
Haverford put together a run behind a strong serving effort from Sydney Miller, pulling in front, 16-13. The Red Devils cut the deficit to 17-15 but the 'Fords answered with a 4-0 clip on the way to a 25-18 decision.
First-year Jamie Singer (Livingston, N.J./Golda Och) led the Red Devil attack with 10 kills, adding six digs and a pair of aces. Kylie Albertsen (Woodstock, Md./Marriots Ridge) was strong at the net as well, recording five kills and five block assists.
Senior Norma Jean Park (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) had three solo blocks and four assisted to go with five kills on the night. First-year Kristin Allgaier (Reston, Va./South Lakes) added four block assists and had 24 assists, 10 digs and a pair of aces.
Tatiana Lopez (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico/Colegio Puertorriqueno de Ninas) tallied 22 digs, four kills and five assists while Erin Bongo (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Knolls) and Megan Gombatz (Farmington, Conn./Farmington) combined for nine kills. Jordyn Park (Great Falls, Va./Flint Hill) chipped in with four kills and five digs.
Haverford improves to 15-9 overall and 4-4 in the Centennial Conference. Dickinson slips to 8-14 and 2-6 in the CC. The Red Devils are on the road on Saturday, traveling to Eastern Mennonite for a tri-match with Randolph College.
