Green Terror Tops Devils to Hold Playoff Spot

(Westminster, Md.) – The Dickinson volleyball team had a great start on the road at McDaniel College, but the Green Terror would come away with a 3-0 decision on Wednesday night.

The Red Devils came out strong in the opening set before McDaniel was able to close out the first, 25-17.

The second set was back and forth, running the score to 9-9. McDaniel gained some room, stretching the lead to 15-11 and remained in front until the Devils answered to tie, 19-19. Dickinson edged in front, but the hosts countered to finish the set, 25-23, to take a 2-1 lead.

McDaniel used the momentum to jump out to a 4-1 lead and went in front 14-6 in the third set. The Terror used a strong finish to close out the match, 25-12, improving to 18-6 on the season and 7-3 in the Centennial Conference.

Sophomore Kristin Allgaier (Reston, Va./South Lakes) led the Red Devils with a double-double night, handing out 18 assists and recording 11 digs. Classmate Tatiana Lopez (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico/Colegio Puertorriqueno de Ninas) tallied 19 digs and three assists.

First-year Emma Lange (Jupiter, Fla./Benjamin) had a strong night at the net, leading the Red Devils with 11 kills. Sophomore Jamie Singer (Livingston, N.J./Golda Och) added five kills and nine digs on the night.

Christina Chu (Hartsdale, N.Y./Ardsley) and Jenna Schumann (Plymouth Meeting, Pa./Germantown Academy) combined for 13 digs, and Elise Butler (Chester Springs, Pa./Academy of Notre Dame) served up three aces to go with three digs and two kills.

The Red Devils move to 10-17 overall and 2-7 in the Centennial Conference. They return home for the regular season finale on Saturday, hosting Gettysburg College at 1:00 pm.
