Devil Women Claim 16th Straight Little Three Title

(Gettysburg, Pa.)- The Dickinson College women's cross country team won its 16th consecutive Little Three Cross Country title on Tuesday with wins over Franklin & Marshall and Gettysburg.

 

The Red Devils had four runners in the top seven, led by seniorSarah Romano (Marion, Pa./Lower Marion) in second place with a time of 19:37.

 

Dickinson placed fifth, sixth and seventh behind strong performance from Kim Powell (Canton, Conn./Canton), Mary Hamilton (Pittsburgh, Pa./Oakland Catholic) and Julie Platt (Wynnewood, Pa./Springside). Powell crossed the line in 19:54 with Hamilton right behind a 19:55. Platt came in at 20:02.

 

Julie McTernan (Needham, Mass./Needham) and first-yearVirginia Farley (Charlotte, Vt./Champlain Valley Union) came in 11th and 12th with times 20:34 and 20:35.

 

Dickinson held off Gettysburg 26-30 and ran to a 20-41 win over F&M to extend its streak to 15 straight titles.

 

Gettysburg's Kerrin Epstein captured the individual title with a time of 19:01. The Bullets placed second with a 20-41 decision over F&M.

 

The Red Devils host the Dickinson Long/Short Course Invitational on Saturday.
