Dickinson College has announced the hiring of Dakota Pentz (Lock Haven '17) as the Head Equipment Manager for Red Devil athletics. Pentz is a 2017 graduate of Lock Haven University, earning a baseball scholarship following an outstanding high school career at neighboring East Pennsboro.
Pentz received a B.S. in Sport Administration from Lock Haven in 2017. He comes to Carlisle after spending the past three years working in Harrisburg. He spent a season working with the Harrisburg Senators, the Double-A Minor affiliate of the Washington Nationals. He worked with Stadium Operations and was part of the groundskeeper crew at First National Bank Stadium on City Island.
For the past two years he has worked for the Parks Department for the city of Harrisburg. He has also kept a close connection to baseball, serving as a varsity baseball assistant coach at Harrisburg Senior High School and a varsity pitching coach in the Central Dauphin school district.
Since 2015 Pentz has served a volunteer coach for RBI: Reviving Baseball in the Inner Cities, a program sponsored by Major League Baseball. He has worked to enhance the skills and leadership knowledge to players from the city of Harrisburg to compete at a high level of play.
While at East Pennsboro, Pentz was a team captain and a First-team All-Mid-Penn Conference selection in 2012 and 2013. He also led his team to an RBI World Series Championship in 2013 and captured Regional Tournament titles in 2011, 2012 and 2013.
Pentz will be responsible for the equipment management and field maintenance for all 25 Red Devil programs. He replaces recently retired Bob Penner and will work closely with Charlie Hambrook, who enters his 20th year at Dickinson.
