CARLISLE, Pa. - Today we continue with our Athletic Trainers Appreciation Month recognition by shining the light on our athletic trainer for the Red Devils m/w cross country, m/w tennis, women's volleyball and men's basketball programs Alex Bazink.
Bazink, in his ninth year here at Dickinson, is a native of Carbondale, Pennsylvania where he was a tri-sport athlete in high school, playing football and basketball as well as running track. Alex was not sure which career path he wanted to take, but he had a passion for helping people and wanted to be around sports. He soon found out that athletic training was the path for him, so he studied Sports Medicine at West Chester University. After graduating from West Chester in 2014, Bazink gained valuable work experience at the University of Maryland where he was as an assistant athletic trainer with the men's soccer and baseball teams. After two years at Maryland, he was attracted to Dickinson because of the rich history of the school and the area felt like home to him. Since coming to Dickinson, his favorite part of the job has been building relationships with students and coworkers. He also finds it most rewarding to see student athletes return from injury and achieve their goals. Knowing that he can make an impact and play a small role in an athlete's recovery brings him great joy. Outside of athletic training, he enjoys cooking, golfing, and spending time with his family. He also enjoys cheering for the Dallas Cowboys, Atlanta Braves, Duke Basketball, and Michigan Football.
Stay tuned to dickinsonathletics.com tomorrow and the rest of the week as we honor the remainder of our outstanding athletic trainers.
