(Mont Alto, Pa.) – The Dickinson baseball team dropped a non-conference outing at Penn State Mont Alto, falling 19-7, on Wednesday afternoon.
The Red Devils struck first, scoring in the top of the third but the Lions countered with eight in the bottom half of the inning. The Lions tallied a lone run in the fourth and added three in the fifth to stretch the lead to 12-1.
Dickinson used three straight RBI singles to plate three runs in the eighth. They added three more in the ninth as Tom Gannaway (Westfield, N.J./St. Peter's Prep) launched a two-run double and Alex Jacobson (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) singled to record his second RBI of the day.
Penn State scored a pair of runs in the seventh and five in the bottom of the eighth for the final.
Jacobson went 3-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored. First-year Josh Heath (Warwick, Md./Bohemia Manor) went 3-for-4 with a double, two stolen bases and an RBI and senior Ben Carter (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing Area) went 2-for-4.
Gannaway finished 2-for-3 on the day, driving in two runs, scoring two runs, drawing two walks and stealing four bases.
The Red Devils move to 22-12 on the season. They return to Centennial Conference action on Saturday, hosting a double-header with Swarthmore at 12:00 pm.
