(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson field hockey team picked up a key Centennial Conference win on Saturday, posting a 2-0 shutout over visiting Washington College.

The first quarter was up and down the field as the match started off on somewhat of a furious pace. The teams traded possessions, but each only produced a pair of shots in the opening stanza.

The Red Devils put their first goal on the board in the second quarter, scoring with just under six minutes remaining in the half. Sophomore Hannah Spiri (Morgantown, Pa./Twin Valley) rattled home a shot off an assist from Sierra Bobb (Dornsife, Pa./Line Mountain), following a penalty corner.

The Red Devils added an insurance goal in the third quarter, capitalizing on another corner. Junior Maddie Dombroski (Boiling Springs, Pa./Boiling Springs) collected another rebound off a shot from Marie Laverdiere (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) with 6:12 remaining in the period and put the Red Devils in front 2-0.

Washington forced three penalty corners and produced five shots in the final frame, but the Red Devils were able to keep the Shorewomen off the scoreboard.

The Red Devils put 10 shots on target, forcing eight saves from Kayla Zapcic. Senior goalkeeper Heather Meeder (Baltimore, Md./Notre Dame Prep) saw just one shot on target, turning that away in the opening period to help secure the shutout.

The Red Devil defense was strong in the circle as well, holding the Shorewomen to just three shots through the first three quarters.

The Red Devils improve to 6-6 overall and 3-3 in the Centennial Conference. They are off midweek and travel to Bryn Mawr College next Saturday for a 12:30 pm start.
