Red Devils Turn Back Terror 15-7 for 2-0 Start

(Westminster, Md.) – The #10-ranked Dickinson men's lacrosse team improve to 7-2 on the season and 2-0 in the Centennial Conference with a 15-7 win at McDaniel College on Wednesday night.

Senior Jack O'Connell (Sands Point, N.Y./Westminster) had another big outing, scoring four goals and handing out two assists to go with three ground balls. First-year Ryan Schaffer (West Caldwell, N.J./Caldwell) recorded his first collegiate hat-trick with three goals on the night.

Senior John Lockwood (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Brother Rice) had a big game as well, netting four goals and dishing out a pair of assists.

Alex Hosker (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman) finished an assist from Joel Mayo (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Berkshire) on an extra-man to put the Red Devils on the board and Lockwood scored twice with assists from O'Connell for a 3-1 advantage at the end of the first.

Lockwood and O'Connell tallied goals in the second quarter and Tucker Booth (Timonium, Md./Boys' Latin) gave the Red Devils a 6-3 lead at halftime.

The Red Devils dominated the third quarter, outscoring the Green Terror 6-0 behind three goals from Schaffer and two from O'Connell to stretch the margin to 12-3.

McDaniel strung together three straight goals in the fourth and outscored the Devils, 4-3, for the final of 15-7.

Cole Pellicano (Arnold, Md./Broadneck) made 11 saves before Michael Marinelli (Newbury Park, Calif./Newbury Park) came on to stop three shots.

Austin Hurdle (Cockeysville, Md./Loyola Blakefield) won 13-of-23 face-offs and controlled five ground balls while Nate Usich (Avon, Conn./Avon Old Farms) went 1-for-1 at the "x" and tallied three GBs and two caused turnovers.

The Red Devils are on the road on Saturday, traveling to Eastern University for a 2:00 pm face-off.
