(Carlisle, Pa.) - Dickinson College has announced the hiring of Christian Klipstein (Bucknell '19) who will serve as an assistant coach for the Red Devil men's lacrosse program. Klipstein comes to Carlisle following an outstanding playing career at Bucknell University.
A four-year starter in the nets, Klipstein was a two-time All-Patriot League selection and was named Academic All-Patriot League in 2017, 2018 and 2019. He earned Patriot League All-Tournament Team honors in 2016 and graduated third in school history in career saves with 593. He finished seventh in single-season saves (184, 2019), seventh in career goals against average (9.65) and ninth in single-season goals against average (8.41, 2016).
As a senior Klipstein was recognized on the Academic All-Patriot League Team for the third-straight season, becoming one of the first two Bison to earn this prestigious honor every year they were eligible to receive it. He was a team captain, starting all 15 games in net, going 6-9 with a 10.62 goals-against-average and a .544 save percentage. He became the first Bison since 2004 to crack the program's top-10 list in single-season saves, reached double digits in saves 11 times and became the seventh Bison to register his 500th career save at Boston University. He made a season-best 20 saves against No. 6 Loyola, just three shy of his career high set as a freshman.
Prior to joining the Bison, Klipstein lettered four times in lacrosse and once in swimming at Rutgers Prep. After a terrific senior year, he was named a High School All-American, New Jersey Goalie of the Year, First-team All-State, West Bianchi Player of the Year and First-team All-Skyland Conference. He was a three-time First-team All-Non Public and All-Bianchi selection, two-time all-area pick and named the New Jersey Sophomore of the Year in 2013. Logged over 750 saves in his career and led his team to an 18-3 record and a Prep B state title in 2013.
Klipstein graduated with a degee in Psychology. He has two older brothers, Ryan and Reaves, who both played college lacrosse. Ryan is a 2011 Bucknell graduate who was a co-captain on Bucknell's 2011 Patriot League championship team and has served as an assistant coach at Holy Cross, Penn and Williams College.
