(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's soccer team opened a big lead in the second half en route to a 6-3 victory over Plattsburgh State at Miller Memorial Field on Friday afternoon.
The Red Devils jumped out to a 2-0 lead as Mohamed Kourouma (New Haven, Conn./Wilbur Cross) ripped a shot from the top of the penalty box in the 16th minute and first-year Tim O'Hare (Bala Cynwyd, Pa./Lower Merion) netted the first of two goals, late in the half.
The Cardinals would answer even later in the first half, finding the net with just 51 seconds on the clock.
Senior Kevin Gilbert (Boxford, Mass./Masconomet Regional) converted a penalty kick to stretch the margin to 3-1 in the 52nd minute but Plattsburgh would answer moments later to cut the deficit to 3-2.
Junior Ian Logan (Westford, Mass./Westford Academy) struck twice in a span of under three minutes, scoring unassisted before finishing a beautiful ball from sophomore Frederick Cisse (New Haven, Conn./Pomfret School) with just under five minutes remaining in the match.
O'Hare added his second of the night just over a minute later before Plattsburgh's Cole Weiner tallied his second of the match for the final of 6-2.
Junior goaltender John Baney (Ridgewood, N.J./Montclair Kimberley Academy) went the distance in the nets, making three saves on the afternoon.
The Red Devils doubled-up the Cardinals in shots, 14-7, while the visitors held the advantage in corners, 6-1.
Dickinson is back in action again tomorrow afternoon in the second round of the Blue Jay/Red Devil Classic, hosting RPI while Plattsburgh heads to play Elizabethtown. Opening kick-off is set for 5:00 pm.
